Both the Chico State men’s and women’s basketball teams remained in second place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings with eight regular season games remaining following wins against Cal State East Bay on Thursday.

The Chico State women’s team defeated East Bay 77-54, improving to 9-1 at home. The men’s team defeated the Pioneers 82-71, improving to 11-1 at home.

The Chico State women’s team led 34-16 at halftime, and outscored the Pioneers 42-38 in the second half.

Jordan Allred led the women’s team with 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting, adding five rebounds. Morgan Mathis had 18 points on 6-of-11 from the 3-point line. Makenzi Laporte had 10 points, and Zhane Duckett led the Wildcats with four assists and 11 rebounds.

The Chico State women’s team (14-6, 10-4 CCAA) plays next at 1 p.m. Saturday at home against San Francisco State.

In the Chico State men’s game the Wildcats led 45-33 at halftime, and the Pioneers outscored the Wildcats 38-37 in the second half.

Jojo Murphy led the Wildcats with 17 points, and Miles Daniels, Kelvin Wright Jr. and Adam Afifi had 16 points each. Joshua Hamilton led the Wildcats in rebounds with seven and assists with six.

The Chico State men’s team (15-4, 10-4 CCAA) plays next at 3 p.m. Saturday at home against San Francisco State.

Prep girls basketball

Pleasant Valley 78, Enterprise 18: AJ Gambol led Pleasant Valley with 20 points in its home win.

Shannon Fong had 17 points, Maddux Wilson had 14 points and Jada Nelms had 11 points. Ava Dunn led the Vikings with 13 rebounds, six assists and three blocks.

PV (19-7, 7-1 Eastern Athletic League) plays next at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shasta.

Prep boys soccer

Chico 1, Enterprise 0: Andy Lawrence scored the lone goal for either team in the Panthers’ home victory Wednesday.

Nathan Carlson assisted on Lawrence’s goal.

Chico (10-2-2, 6-0-1 EAL) plays next at 7 p.m. Friday at Red Bluff.

Prep girls soccer

Gridley 2, Anderson 0: Gridley defeated Anderson on Wednesday in Anderson before falling to Orland 6-1 at home on Thursday.

In Wednesday’s game Maria Espinoza and Natalie Mariscal scored one goal each for the Bulldogs.

No stats were reported by Orland or Gridley for Thursday’s game.

Gridley (7-7-2, 1-5 Butte View League) plays next at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Oroville.

Orland (12-8-1, 6-1 BVL) plays next at 4 p.m. Tuesday at home against Las Plumas.
