My reasons for voting yes on Valley’s Edge:

Valley’s Edge is a stunning example of Low Impact Cluster development and is the only way to balance urbanism and the natural environment. Cluster development is real Smart Growth, compared to the absurd claims by my friends in opposition.

There are 700 homes within a seven-minute walk to the village market, restaurants and services.

We know from Meriam Park that people will live and work in the same place when given the opportunity and Meriam proves this. The commercial village in Valley’s Edge provides those jobs.

It’s not a perfect plan because perfect plans don’t exist. It is, however, a fantastic addition to the diversity of a livable city and the idea that our children and grandchildren will choose to be here.

Fire is a real concern, our experience rebuilding Paradise to not burn again is the same fire code mandated in building Valley’s Edge. The best way to protect the fire prone housing below Valley’s Edge is to build resistance in front of those neighborhoods.

Considering 80% of Chico is sprawl where you must own a car to live here, Valley’s Edge brings us hope that we can develop smarter in harmony with the natural environment.
