OROVILLE — An early morning shooting into a home on Monday has left one woman injured.
At approximately 1:50 a.m., Oroville Police Department officers were dispatched to reports of shots fired into a residence with a possible injury in the 3800 block of Roseben Avenue.
Arriving on scene, officers located a woman with a gunshot wound to the upper portion of her chest. Officers immediately began rendering aid and cleared emergency medical services to enter to the scene. EMS began life-saving measures on the woman and transported her to the nearest area trauma center for her injuries, according to a press release from the Police Department.
During the investigation, officers located multiple shell castings and immediately canvassed the area requesting and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby residences, according to the release. In the video footage, officers were able to see three people on multiple surveillance cameras in the area. These people were seen walking in the area near the shooting and attempting to open multiple car doors just before the incident.
The surveillance footage also showed one of the three carrying “what appears to be a firearm with an extended magazine,” the press release stated.
The three were seen walking toward the location of the shooting within minutes of the initial 911 call.
Information gathered from witnesses and surveillance footage is being used to supplement this investigation. Officers will also conduct follow-ups in the area in an attempt to obtain additional surveillance footage.
Since this is an ongoing investigation the Police Department is not releasing the name of the wounded woman or any further details at this time.
